What’s the Big Swimwear Trend for 2015? It’s Called Athleisure and I Like It

I first heard about the Athleisure trend last summer. It was in an article I was reading and I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. Basically it’s clothing that’s appropriate for either athletic or leisure activities. (Yes, they are two complete polar opposites.) This fall, we saw leggings become the new denim and more gym-to-street fashion than I knew what to do with. Some say the trend may be over, but as I see some of the new hot bathing suits for 2015, I’m thinking it’s going to be around a wee bit longer. At least poolside that is.

The suits are sporty boasting gorgeous piping, yet feminine with their string detailing. Here are a few athleisure suits I have my eyes on.

Swimwear Trend for 2015 – Athleisure

Swimsuit trends 2015 -- It's called Athleisure and I like it.

L’Agent by Agent Provocateur gives this flattering swimsuit sporty edge with chartreuse trims. This halterneck style has a cutout waist that emphasizes the narrowest part of your body. Adjust the straps to achieve the perfect fit.

Sporty Swimsuit

This swimsuit is from Target (and they just so happen to be having an awesome Buy One, Get One 50% Off Swimwear sale – ends 3/7/15) and I love the different colored decorative straps. It’s sporty, with a feminine touch.

Two toned athleisure bikini

Two-tone bikini set featuring black neoprene bandeau top with bright neon orange bikini pants, detailed with contrast stitching.

Flagpole Swim Perry Color

Flagpole Swim’s designs are crafted in New York City from sourced Italian fabrics. This ‘Perry’ bikini is a bold color-block style with removable padding, an internal demi-bra for support and high-waisted briefs. Made from innovative UPF50+ anti-piling fabric, it’s perfect for active beach getaways.

Victoria's Secret Bikini Top

A crossover front and back make this bikini top an all-around fave. Mix & match all our cute suits—swimwear by Victoria’s Secret PINK.

ASOS Sporty Bikini Top

This ASOS Mix and Match Contrast Deep Longline Bandeau Bikini Top features Stretch fabric, removable straps, soft cup padding and underwire support. Pair it with an ASOS bikini bottom.

Swimwear 2015

This Kore Bahia One-Piece Swimsuit has sheer mesh detailing and is structured perfectly. You’ll both look and feel amazing in this. I personally love the different colored cups.

Colorblock one piece swimsuit

This Color-blocked Monokini Light in Turquoise Blue is beautiful. The cutouts and color-blocking give it a unique look. This would be perfect for a water park or pool-side with the kids.

Which swimsuit is your favorite? And what do you think about this Swimwear Trend for 2015? I think I’ll embrace it fully and go for a more sporty look this summer. Now where is that sunshine and warmth?!

Don’t forget about your pool-side accessories such as cover-ups, sunglasses, hats and totes! See a great selection below.

  1. I haven’t read the swimwear trends for 2015 so thanks for the insight. Not my style really, but I only wear tankini’s or one piece. The colors sure are gorgeous though. 🙂

  2. For me high waisted will be the biggest trend of 2015, so nice. I have an high waisted bikini from Moeva London called Alice that i am just in love. It is incredible how such a retro piece can look so nice, with my Alice I feel extremely sexy, I think they really did a piece that combines the retro and the sexy in a very balanced way.
