“I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Discover Boating. I received collateral to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.”

Today was our kids’ last day of school. Summer is here and I am SO ready for summer activities! From relaxing days by the pool and relaxing nights outside, to vacation time and…boating on the lakes! We live in beautiful Austin, Texas which means we have some fabulous lakes around. One way we love to spend the weekends when my husband is off is boating with family.

It’s Time to Create Family Memories and Discover Boating

Summertime means plenty of time to get out on the water and create some priceless memories with your friends and family. It’s time to reconnect. It’s time to have some fun. It’s time to maybe try something you haven’t tired yet – like maybe skiing or tubing perhaps?!

I am so excited to be an Ambassador for Discover Boating. What is Discover Boating? I’m glad you asked! It’s a nonprofit program supported by the U.S. recreational boating industry. They encourage everyone to get out on the water and experience the fun of the boating lifestyle. Boating is a summer pastime for many and not only is it fun, but it’s such a great experience to have with your friends and family. Boating offers endless on-water activities such as a beautiful sunset cruise, tubing, skiing, fishing and of course anchoring the boat somewhere for some swim time.

DiscoverBoating.com offers resources for both seasoned boaters and newbies. The site is very well designed and easy to use. For first timers, click on Get Started. There they have videos, a newsletter you can sign up for, affordable boating options and some information on renting before you buy.

This is one thing my husband and I are interested in. Our family has a boat they allow us to enjoy in the summer, but we recently looked into a boat club. Boat ownership isn’t something that really interest us right now, but renting a boat, having a blast on it and then letting someone else take care of the repairs and clean up? Yes please! That we are very interested in!

You can also find your perfect boat match (renting a boat is like dating and owning a boat is like marriage – you want just the right boat people!!), read up on boating activities, maintenance tips and on and on and on. This is THE hub of boating knowledge!

Need a Father’s Day Idea? Take Your Dad Boating

We’re having a low key Father’s Day this year because the kids and I will have just returned back from a week long camp. So, no boating plans for us. But wouldn’t that be an awesome way to spend Father’s Day? This is definitely in the plans for next year. Renting a boat for Father’s Day would help make some memories dad will think of for many years to come.

Some other ideas for times to boat are anniversaries, kids birthdays or just because your family needs a day to get out of the house, on the water and have some fun! Last year, 88 million Americans chose boating as a way to enjoy the outdoors and spend time with loved ones.

Do You Have Any Boating Memories?

Did you spend your childhood with dad or grandpa on a boat? If so, you can submit a photo to Discover Boating’s June Facebook Photo contest.  The best photo wins a Visa gift card! Enter here: www.facebook.com/discoverboating. Sounds great to me!

I have some great memories on a boat that my grandpa made himself. He loved that boat. We all loved that boat. For his 90th birthday, my cousin made him an amazing cake. It was his boat! She got everything right, down to the last detail. I’ll have to see if I can get a picture of it and share it with you. It was fabulous and our grandpa loved it. He loved it so much he wouldn’t let anyone eat it! He kept it on his kitchen counter for as long as it would last. I think it was a couple of months. If that’s not proof that boating can hold a special place in your heart and special memories, I don’t know what is.

I encourage you to check out DiscoverBoating.com for yourself. Plan a fun day with the family and see what kinds of memories you can make.
